Loft Electrical Update
So my custom kitchen requires some custom electrical work. It’s all fairly standard stuff. I met with the site electrician today and one of the project managers. Here’s what I’m getting done:
- 240V Wall oven outlet
- 240V range outlet
- fridge outlet *
- dishwasher outlet *
- Counter outlets along dividing wall *
- Outlet at end of jut thingy
- Work light in middle of kitchen *
- Work like on range
- Light above sink
- Light above outer jut counter
- Additional split power line run to rear of unit (25′ run to the box)
- Also, moving the sink drain 3 feet or so
* marked items would be already planned existing work that is being re-positioned.
Initial verb estimate was crazy, but I’ll wait until I get a real quote for this work before I rant about it. Progress in general was encouraging. Platforms are built, insulation is in on many of the units on the 4th floor (about half). Drywalling has also started on the 4th floor for some units. Many of the units have their bathrooms mostly installed (everyone who didn’t go custom in some way…). Electrical is obviously in place for most units as well. The duct work is done for all the units, but no heat exchangers built in yet. No entrance doors, but some bathroom doors are up. They moved the electrical panels to the second floor, on the exterior of the washer/dryer wall. Looks like they are running SOME CAT5e cable for internet/tv, but it wasn’t clear where that would be terminated within the unit (presumably around the breaker box).
I had conflicting feelings about the perceived size of the unit. From the kitchen it seemed larger, but from the back of the unit it seemed… small. Mind you, it’s hard to judge when there’s stuff laying around and unfinished walls. Ideally I’ll take some pictures when I measure for the kitchen.

Hello James;
Nice news. A good thing to do now is to have the internet and phone connections in every room with cable and ethernet connections. Everything connects to a panel that allows you to control every phone and internet line from one panel. It works great! Even if you do not need this, these add to the value of the condo and make excellent re-selling points. Hope you have a good week.
