Choose to believe, for a moment, that we have been around for at least 100,000 years. Imagine that God has been watching us struggle through live for all these years. Then, 2000 years ago; or, 98,000 years later; he decides to step in and give us a savior! Why did he wait so long?
Now, lets pretend that we’ve only been around a few thousand years now. God created everything for us on this planet, including the fossils that suggest that there are things older than a few thousand years. Why would he trick us like that?

Ever stop to consider how much paper is used to get nearly every house hold in your city the most current set of fliers? Crazy eh?

The bad news is two-fold: the inspectors require the entire buildings mechanical system to be completed with all systems fully operational everywhere prior to occupancy permits being granted. The second blow we’ve had is the mechanical trade has indicated that they cannot possibly have this all complete prior to July; they just do not have enough man power.
Does it seems odd to you that the period of time noted here is also the period of time it would take for ISC land titles to go through? I think not.

So my custom kitchen requires some custom electrical work. It’s all fairly standard stuff. I met with the site electrician today and one of the project managers. Here’s what I’m getting done:
- 240V Wall oven outlet
- 240V range outlet
- fridge outlet *
- dishwasher outlet *
- Counter outlets along dividing wall *
- Outlet at end of jut thingy
- Work light in middle of kitchen *
- Work like on range
- Light above sink
- Light above outer jut counter
- Additional split power line run to rear of unit (25′ run to the box)
- Also, moving the sink drain 3 feet or so
* marked items would be already planned existing work that is being re-positioned.
Initial verb estimate was crazy, but I’ll wait until I get a real quote for this work before I rant about it. Progress in general was encouraging. Platforms are built, insulation is in on many of the units on the 4th floor (about half). Drywalling has also started on the 4th floor for some units. Many of the units have their bathrooms mostly installed (everyone who didn’t go custom in some way…). Electrical is obviously in place for most units as well. The duct work is done for all the units, but no heat exchangers built in yet. No entrance doors, but some bathroom doors are up. They moved the electrical panels to the second floor, on the exterior of the washer/dryer wall. Looks like they are running SOME CAT5e cable for internet/tv, but it wasn’t clear where that would be terminated within the unit (presumably around the breaker box).
I had conflicting feelings about the perceived size of the unit. From the kitchen it seemed larger, but from the back of the unit it seemed… small. Mind you, it’s hard to judge when there’s stuff laying around and unfinished walls. Ideally I’ll take some pictures when I measure for the kitchen.

So I’m on my way back from the bank today. Heading down 51st towards warman ave. The lights at that particular intersection heading east and west allow for three lanes of traffic, but most people who plan to continue through don’t use the far right lane. Most of the time it’s full of people turning right (and not turning right when they can, given they have their own lane to do so in). At any rate, the light turns green and we all proceed to move through the intersection at the usual pace.
This guy behind me is riding my ass and he obviously want to be in that right lane ASAP. Well all the power to him I think, as I see broken down car up a head in the right lane. Since he was following me sooo closely I think he couldn’t see that car, because he choose to peel out of the lane right into it. I say he was going 60km/h or so when he did that. Right smack into the back of the other car. Didn’t appear to be anyone tending to that poor parked car, and the guy immediately jumped out of his car waving his hands in the air. I figured he was fine if he could do that and kept on moving.
Today’s lesson in driving? Always maintain a safe following distance in your car, and exercise caution when going around vehicle on the right. You have something of a blind spot there.
