OS X Mail, My Beef

I’ve been using the mail client that comes with OS X for about 4 years. For me it’s the perfect balance of simple and powerful. Built in spam filtering, useful normal filtering, simple interface for everyday stuff. It supports all the accounts I have as well. There is one thing that kinda irks me thou. It usually only happens with Yahoo POP mail, but has happened with my other accounts.

When Mail fails to connect to a pop server, or the pop server is too busy to take a request… Mail fails to get the mail. Thats normal and expected. What isn’t is that for some reason it thinks the password must of been wrong for both. Even thou a no connect is obviously not an invalid password and a “busy” reply is also not invalid password. So it prompts me for the password and refuses to check mail in that account until you enter the same password or close the window. Thats not it thou, it puts the account on your computer in a state that requires you to click a little circle to reactivate. All together, it’s really agitating. Yahoo seems to regularly have this problem. Occasionally my mail server at sapara goes down and it also triggers this. Anyways, it’s silly that they don’t handle the feed back from a pop connection properly.
