Customer is Always Stupid

So I’m at some grill place today getting some food. Two young ladies are before me in line. They’re picking what they want in their food. One seems to know the drill and quickly has her order on the the grill. The other seems to have some very strange questions… “Did the person who prepared this wash their hands?” (pointing to grated carrots), “Can I have one more slice of celery?”, “I don’t want that mushroom, it touched an onion.”, etc and so forth. It actually took 3 minutes to select from 8 things and get to the point of paying.

The End of the Job

Well today was the end of a good job. Don’t for a second feel bad for me thou, it was the right thing to do. I respect the choice my bosses made, because it gives the project the chance for success that it needs. I still feel like I let them down. I know I let myself down, but I rest easy knowing I gave it my best. I know I was hard on work in the past few weeks, but that was really me just venting superficial stuff about work. I’ll be moving back to Saskatoon as soon as possible, probably by the end of the month. I’m sure all those Saskatoon people will be thrilled I’m back so soon. I’m not really leaving many people behind in Winnipeg either, so it’s an easy move in that regard.

Triple Head

In the past few weeks I’ve obtained a third lcd screen. I also got my 15″ lcd back from work, so I’ve setup a triple head system. I’m running two Nvidia cards for this setup. One is a GeForce Ti 4400 AGP and the other is a GeForce Fx 5 PCI. Both have 128mb of ram, but the PCI is really really really slow. Takes about 3 minutes to load World of Warcraft on that card, even thou it’s technically a faster chip. Anyways, here’s the picture.

What it is to be a Millar (Mortal Danger is no Joke)

Oky, so I’m not a Millar by name really. That was my mothers maiden name thou. I’m not exactly sure if it’s English in origin or Irish. Seeing as my grampa came from Ireland, I’ll go with that. Anyways… you may not of known this, but some Irish people have anti-luck. Now this is not as bad as it sounds. It’s not like we’re dropping dead from unusual things all the time. It’s more of a condition that gets us in strange situations. For example…

Experiences with Sleep

Oky, so I haven’t really posted much about how I worked an additional 5 hours on last Friday, 7 on Saturday and from 9:30am Sunday until 2am Tuesday (minus eating ONCE, travel and bathroom). Work didn’t seem to get how intense that was… but hey… they don’t seem to get alot of things these days. Anyways, to make that even better I was in the cusp of a nasty cold. Good times indeed, but enough talk about that. Lets talk about sleeping all crazy like!

Coffee Shops

So I just came back from a 45 minute walk downtown. I had to deposit my pay cheque and was going to get a latte. I’ve been introduced to a place called “The Fyxx” which makes a decent chi latte, so I figured I’d stop there on my way. I was there on Thursday and noticed it’s hours were noon to 8pm Sundays and holidays.

When You Wish on the Internet

I’ve setup some wish lists on the Think Geek and Amazon so far. People always seem to get my the weirdest gifts, so I figured I’d make it easy to get the correct weird gifts. I’ve attempted to make them fairly affordable. Unfortunately all in USD, but most of the Amazon stuff is available from the Canadian store (anything still in print… ). The stuff on Think Geek is just hard to find in general. Thou it may be worth looking for in Canada, since their shipping is super crazy expensive if your only getting one thing. I typically try to pool a few orders from those guys. Spend $200 or so and it’s alright.

Ruffish Week

Well the long hours of work, at work are starting. Again there has been another urgent meeting to re-re-re-iterate the urgency of our deadline. I suppose I’m just too laid back to look panicicked, worried or crazy about it. They seem to read that as something like don’t care or don’t get it, which is far from the truth. Anyways, we get that out of the way and some how end up in a conversation with me talking about leaving again, thou I was much more serious about it this time. From my perspective there have been some choices along the way so far that do not instill confidence in me. Regardless, I’m gonna stick with the project until we either succeed or part our ways to try something else.

Do I Have a Camera Fetish?

I bought a Nikon D50 today. It’s a DSLR camera body, with stock lens and an external flash for those special occasions (weddings, dark parties, indoors on occasion, etc). I suppose I bought a 1GB SD card for it as well, since I didn’t have any of those. I was very close to buying a Canon Rebel XT, but I decided it’s really really small form factor and crazy expensive lens where too much. I could of bough some $300 kit to get a grip for it, which makes it feel larger in your hands, but adds a ton of weight and provides features I don’t really need ( extra battery, extra control buttons on the grip, and bag ). Since the Nikon is apparently good for 2000 photo’s; I don’t think I’ll need any sort of grip for it. I can get two extra batteries on ebay for about $45 US, which is an amazing deal anyways. I’m more worried about the flash running out of power than my camera anyways.

Hat’s are back

Most people would say this about me, “James doesn’t wear hats.” Well not anymore, I bought a hat just in time for winter, so by the time spring comes around I’ll either of lost it or lost interest in wearing it. Anyways, here’s some poses of me wearing my new hat. It’s a paintball hat with the word, “Empire” in front and their logo in the back (which is kinda like a lightning spider).
